The Beginning…

First, let me say that I am so happy that you have made it to this website. Let me introduce myself, in case we don’t know one another. My name is Levi Monk. From an early age, I have had two passions… music and technology.

My earliest memory of music in church was nearly 30 years ago on a stool next to my mom. One of these days you may just see the video proof of this memory. I remember singing alongside my mom at church. That love for music was carried on throughout my childhood as I continued to sing at church. By the time I reached middle school, I began singing on the praise team at my youth group. And by high school, I was sure that God wanted me in ministry. I remember going up to the adult leader of the worship ministry at my high school youth group and telling him, that I wanted to do what he was doing. And he took me seriously. Keve Israelson began teaching me how to lead worship. That mentorship lead me to a love of leading others into the throne room in worship and I haven’t looked back. I have since headed up the worship teams at 2 different churches and traveled to many churches to lead worship. In all of these positions, I have had the opportunity to learn not only how to lead, but learn so much in the area of technology.

I have always been kind of a nerd. Ask my family, I have always had a love for things electronic. Whether it be computers, websites, audio equipment, or video. When we had computer issues in my house growing up, I would be the one to fix it (I was also the cause of a few of those computer issues in my early years). As a matter of fact, my original plan for college was to go for web design. However, God had other plans and after much prayer, I decided that I was going to pursue music and ministry.

Now, like many people, I have wondered where exactly God wants me in the grand scheme of things. I truly believe that God has uniquely gifted everyone for a specific purpose. But what was that purpose for me? But then, I was called into full time ministry in a small church. At first, I thought that being in worship ministry was just music related. But I realized that there was way more to it. This day and age we are surrounded by so much technology and I was having to assist the church in that way as well.

Then the year 2020 happened and all the sudden, churches everywhere were plunged (some unwillingly) into online meetings. And I realized that the years that I had been playing with websites, video cameras, and the couple of online concerts I had in the early 2000s had prepared me for such a time as this.

I realized that small churches are going to have to start focusing on ministering online more. I am in no way saying that we need to neglect our in person gathering. But we have a huge mission field before us online. People that would not normally step foot in your church building may join you online.  And I have been blessed to help several churches jump into online ministry.

After much prayer, I wanted to start creating content that could help small churches do big things. This blog will be filled with helpful articles about worship ministry, leadership, and tech. Am I the best out there… no. There are people who know way more that I, but I want to help in any way that I can. And if I can help others to avoid pitfalls or better their ministry by even a small degree, I want to do that.
